In a digital world where security threats are constant and evolving, managing your cryptocurrency safely has become more crucial than ever. Trezor Suite® offers an intuitive, secure platform that connects with Trezor hardware wallets to ensure your assets are protected at all times. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up your Trezor device with Trezor Suite and securing it effectively from day one.
Trezor Suite is the official interface for Trezor hardware wallets, developed by SatoshiLabs. It's available as a desktop application and a web app at suite.trezor.io. It allows users to manage multiple cryptocurrencies, monitor balances, send/receive transactions, use exchanges, and more — all while maintaining maximum security.
Make sure you have the following ready:
Visit the official download page: trezor.io/trezor-suite.
Choose your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) and install the app. If you're unable to install it, you can use the web version at https://suite.trezor.io
, but desktop is more secure and private.
Plug in your Trezor using the supplied USB cable. If it’s a new device, it will display a prompt to install firmware. Trezor Suite will guide you through this process. Only install firmware verified and signed by SatoshiLabs.
After firmware installation, choose to create a new wallet. Your device will now generate a unique recovery seed phrase — either 12, 18, or 24 words. This is the most important part of the setup.
You’ll be prompted to verify your seed by re-selecting the words in order. This ensures accuracy.
Next, create a unique PIN that will be required every time you unlock your Trezor. The PIN entry interface is randomized on the computer screen to protect against keyloggers.
Trezor offers advanced options like passphrase protection and Shamir Backup (Model T only). These tools can enhance your recovery process or hide wallets under a secret password.
If you choose to enable them:
After setup, you’ll land in the Trezor Suite dashboard. Here’s what you can do:
Always keep your firmware up to date. Trezor Suite will notify you when an update is available. Updates include bug fixes, new features, and security patches.
No one — not even Trezor support — will ever ask for your seed phrase. If someone does, it’s a scam. Never type it online or into any app, website, or form.
If something isn’t working during setup:
